line source calc.

Radsafers,

Looking for some confirmation.

We have a 22 inch (55.88cm) line source of Co-60. 13 Curies.
Using the RHH (1992) pgs 53,58 and 59, I calculate that the Dose
equivalent rate 1ft (30.48cm) from the CENTER of the source is
approx. 90 rem/hour.

I am neglecting the beta dose and accounting for two gammas per
disintegration 1.17 and 1.33 Mev. I am aware that both are not
100% abundant... these numbers are close enough for our purposes.

Unless the rest may be interested, e-mail me :

Thank you in advance for your assistance.
