Fellow radsafers,
I am trying to locate information on the US national decommissioning
experience. Not remediation (ie dirt and Superfund Clean-ups) but nuclear
facility decommissioning. I have several listings of decommissioned
facilities I routinely use in my work. These were compiled by the USDOE and
the IAEA among others. These generally cover 1)commercial nuclear power
plants, 2)research reactors and 3)some uranium mining & milling facilities
and a few other fuel cycle facilities. I have a copy of some decommissioned
large accelerators from an ANL report (prepared in 1979) that I use for
maintaining a listing of these types of facilites.
Where I need help is in identifying those NRC licensed or state licensed
facilites that are decommissioned that do not fit into any of the Categories
#1-3 above. Does the NRC or state regulatory agencies maintain such
listings? How do you get these? Does anyone have a listing of accelerator
facilites decommissioned since 1979 or know where I can obtain one? Thanks
for your help. (Please send replies to the e-mail address below.)
