Re: rules and etiquette

     To all,

I understand Professor Gilmore's complaint, but I, for one, find it
more convenient to be able to reread the specific part of the original
message the responder is referring to, especially if the time between
original and response is more than a day or two.

I may have thrown away the original, or it may be residing in a file
or an archive somewhere. Either way, those who respond without
including, at a minimum, the specific item they are responding to,
often leave me scratching my head and trying to remember "Now what is
all that about, and is it something I wanted and needed?"

     Regards,

Now that I am getting digests, I would say that a "thank you" or
"sorry" message takes up a whole lot less space than people not
deleting the last three messages they're responding to and filling up
our mailboxes with stuff we've already read once or twice (or three
times)! But that's just my opinion, not the opinion that counts.
