Ken and RadSafers,
     
 I would submit that the source has already been distributed by the
manufacturer.  A medical licensee is not a manufacturer.  I believe as long as 
they transfer the source to another licensee who has a valid license to possess 
and use such a source would be adequate.  This is a good example where NRC 
regulations are interpreted to mean more that that which was originally 
intended!
