The style of writing and scanty information does not suggest a professional
news organization, but rather some sort of hoax.  There is no attribution to
anyone, not much detail about the type of leak, the radionuclides involved
etc.

Northwest England Faces Threat of Radioactive Contamination.

LONDON, February 11 (Itar-Tass) - A radioactive leakage was spotted at
the British biggest nuclear processing complex in Sellafield where
around 50 tons of plutonium are stored. 

It was reported that the radioactive leakage might put the health of the
population in northwest England in jeopardy. It was established that
areas adjoining Sellafield had been contaminated with radioactive
substances. 

According to preliminary reports, birds are perishing in the
contaminated areas.
