                           POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT


POSITION TITLE:          SCIENTIST

SALARY RANGE:       $53,000 - $71,000

HIRE DATE:               JUNE 1, 1998

DESCRIPTION:        The scope of work for this position includes, but is
                    not limited to, identification and evaluation of
                    radiological-related rules and regulations that are
                    applicable to the Yucca Mountain Project.
                    Responsibilities include the formulation and
                    preparation of compliance documents and programs, with
                    emphasis on compliance with existing and pending
                    regulations of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and
                    Environmental Protection Agency.  The individual will
                    work and interact with senior technical staff and
                    management, and is expected to contribute to the
                    solution of Mined Geologic Disposal System license
                    application issues.  Frequent travel to the Yucca
                    Mountain site, a U.S. DOE controlled access site, is
                    required.

QUALIFICATION:      The successful applicant must have a minimum of a
                    Masters degree in Physical sciences, such as Physics,
                    Health Physics, Radiological Engineering or similar
                    disciplines.  The experience requirement for the
                    position is a minimum of ten (10) years in directly
                    related fields including regulatory analysis and/or
                    regulatory compliance and assessment.  The applicant
                    shall have: work experience at local state, and
                    national levels; technical project management
                    experience; and a demonstrated ability to work
                    independently.  The ability to obtain unlimited access
                    to the Yucca Mountain site is a condition of
                    employment.
