     International Symposium and Workshop on Measurements of Optical 
     Radiation Hazards  
     
     A three-day conference focusing on measurements of optical radiation 
     hazards is to be held in the Washington D.C. area at the National 
     Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Gaithersburg, MD, USA 
     from 1-3 September 1998.  The website address is:

     CONFERENCE
     The conference will promote and address the need for improved, 
     standardized radiometric measurements of optical radiation hazards 
     from ultraviolet, visible, and infrared radiation sources and 
     assessment of protective measures such as sunscreens, clothing, and 
     eye protection.
     
     INVITATION TO CONTRIBUTE ABSTRACTS FOR POSTERS 
     International speakers working in various areas of Optical 
     Measurements and Photobiology have been invited to give keynote 
     lectures throughout the conference.  A 150 word abstract and the 
     completed reply form should be submitted to the contact.  Abstracts 
     without a poster presentation will be accepted for the proceedings 
     with consideration to subject matter and document space availability.

     Photobiological Basis for Risk Assessment - Action Spectra 
     Photobiological Guidelines & Standards for Health Protection and       
       Product Safety
     Measurements Needed to Apply Photobiological Guidelines and Standards
     
     REGISTRATION 
     A nominal registration fee of (less than $150) will be charged.
