of Environmental Conservation has an opening for an Environmental
Radiation Specialist 1, and welcomes applications from qualified

Base salary: $34,729

Note: A civil service list exists for this position; however, if  there are
fewer than three interested individuals on the list, the Department may
make a provisional appointment, pending the next offering of the civil
service exam (expected in 1999). 

Minimum Qualifications for Provisional Appt.: bachelor's degree in
biological, environmental or physical sciences or in engineering.  In
addition, you must have had at least two years of professional
experience in radiological science, radiological engineering or nuclear
engineering.

Duties may include investigation of sites contaminated with radioactive
materials, evaluation of discharges and disposals of radioactive material
to the environment, environmental radiation surveys and sampling and
analysis,  and inspections of facilities discharging or disposing of
radioactive materials.
