RE: Cutting off power




     How time has changed! Though it may be satisfying, Kansai Electric 
     won't get away doing that in today's environment.

FYI.
Regarding the suggestion that electric supply be cut off to make a point. Back 
in about 1972, I recollect that one particular small town in Japan was 
actively opposing a nuclear plant proposal. The Japanese utility involved 
[Kansai Electric Company, I believe] issued a statement that they intended to 
shut off power to the town so that:
     
"They may keenly appreciate the necessity of electric power." 
     
The exact statement appeared in Environment Magazine at that time.  I could 
probably locate an exact reference for this occurence, but it would take a 
little digging on my part.
