I would suggest that you read the "patient directive" quite carefully.
Several items which will have a major impact on the practice of radiology
are : the requirement for justification of each and every radiological
exposure. The thought of a radiologist personally signing and reviewing
every single exposure (including dental) is somewhat daunting. In this
context it should also be remembered that Iitigation in Ireland has reached
US levels ! The second item is the requirement of clinical audit. The
national Rad.Prot. Authority are talking about inspecting clinical audits,
setting protocols for examinations etc. This is running very close to
impacting on the clinical responsibility of the doctor.
A third item relates to workplace surveys of Radon and classifying workers
as rad.workers if the Radon level is over say 400 Bqm2 !
Believe me you ain't seen nothing yet !
Whether all this is the best way to spend one's euro is of course another
question !
