Digging through the mental archives on this, I recall some attempts at
using a memory chip as a dosimeter. The idea was to refresh the chip to all
zeroes, irradiated it, and check to see how many zeroes were changed to
ones per mrem. The idea worked, except that the threshold of detection was
way too high to be useful.

If irradiation of electronics was problem, no one would be using electronic
dosimeters.
