ComEd to cut staff in its nuclear group

Another major cut in the nuclear utility world....

NEW YORK, May 21 (Reuters) - Commonwealth Edison Co (ComEd) said 
Thursday that a ``workforce realignment'' will cut
about 320 people, or 30 percent of the employees, in the support functions of 
the company's nuclear generation group.

``The realignment work beginning today will be completed by June 30 and will 
cover about 250 positions,'' ComEd said in a
statement.

``The remainder will be eliminated when ongoing work evaluations are 
completed during the rest of the year,'' the company said.

The majority of ComEd's 1,075 nuclear support function employees are located 
in Downers Grove, Ill.
