Univesities in Israel

Hi

The R.S.O of the Universities in Israel are trying to change the
radiation safety
regulation and getting a special license for universities.
The problem is that in Israel we have only one general regulation so
the same rules are
applied to a lab using 1mCi H-3 in a university that has a radiation
safety unit and
to a nuclear reactor or radiation therapy department .The main problems
are:
1. Every worker that works more then 200 hr a year with radioactive
materials is
a "radiation worker" .
2. All labs must be checked once every year by an outside inspector.
3. Every worker in a lab that in a year use more then 10xALI must be
checked
4 times a year for internal contamination.
4. Every worker that has access to an area that the radiation is above
0.25 mRem/hr
must be monitored for external exposure( replacing badge every month).
5. Once a year must receive a refreshment course and medical checkup.

We need to know the situation in other countries . Do you have
different sorts of
licenses and different requirements for Universities ?.

Thanks
