What It Is! (A Magnetron)

Thanks for the assistance and interest in finding out what kind of tube we
had come across.
After several conversations with (old) radar operators and a couple of
archivists from Raytheon (the tubes manufacturer) I found out what it was.

We also found that the radiation reading (~3 times background with a
pancake probe) is from the Thorium which was applied under extreme heat to
the tungsten cathode. They only made this type of tube for a few years in
the 1950s.
