Re: Contaminated wood

Dear Radsafers,

I checked my file for "unusual types of publications" (there is also a
paper about lots of P-32 in apparently healthy roaches also) and found a
ref - a paper in Health Physics (Vol. 47, 1984:447-451) that may be of
interest: "Radioactivity in Books Produced During the Last 50 Years".
(Authors: B.Y. Lalit and V.K. Shukla, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre,
Bombay, India).

Books published in different countries at different times were chosen
for counting. Different paper qualities are discussed. A cesium-137 peak
is seen for the period 1953-1974 (approximately).

Sincerely Yours,
