The Rhode Island Atomic Energy Commission has an opening for a Radiation
Protection Officer (RPO) at the Rhode Island Nuclear Science Center
(RINSC) and the University of Rhode Island (URI). The RINSC operates a 2MW
research reactor.  URI has the the usual research laboratories.
Rhode Island is an agreement state.

Required Education, Experience and Skills:

Masters degree in Radiological Health Physics or equivalent.
Several years of experience as may have been gained through employment in
a health physics position, preferably at a nuclear facility. 
Must have demonstrated management and supervisory experience.; strong
working knowledge of radiation safety, transportation, NRC, and DOT
regulations ; strong interpersonal skills, and excellent verbal and
written communication skills, with attention to detail required.


Duties and Responsibilities:

The RPO plans, implements, and conducts a radiation safety program for
both RINSC and URI; assures compliance with all state and federal
regulations; and serves on the Radiation Safety Committees of both
institutions.
