SUMMARY: Management professional with over 30 years diversified corporate
experience. Proven Leadership record directing large line and staff
organizations. Strengths include: problem identification, planning,
organizing, budget management, and productivity improvement.
EXPERIENCE
1989 to 1995 Southern California Edison , Westminster and San Onofre , CA.
Radiation Safety Officer , Corporate Health Physics Engineer
Administered radioactive material license (RML). Processed RML
applications, renewals and terminations. Appraised the San Onofre Nuclear
Generating Station (SONGS) health physics program. Served as participant
and controller of simulated radiological emergencies. Acted as liason with
the State of California.
· Designed and implemented the Westminster health physics program resulted
in $200,000 savings over vendor charges.
· Identified several deficiencies in the SONGS health physics program that
when corrected avoided Nuclear Regulatory Commission ( NRC)
citations.
· Investigated the root cause of leaking radioactive sources which resulted
in improved source specification and sole source manufacturing to assure
quality.
· Terminated an unnecessary RML resulting in savings of $ 5000/ year.

1987 to 1989 Three Mile Island (TMI) , Middletown, PA
Radiological Controls Director ( Radiation Protection Manager)
Managed 187 personnel during damaged fuel removal, decontamination of
facilities, and transportation of radioactive material offsite.
Administered an annual budget in excess of 16 million. Interfaced on a
regular basis with state and federal regulators.
· Gave a monthly verbal presentation of 6-8 hours duration to the US
President's radiological oversight committee.
· Reduced the health physics staff and budget by 66% over a two year period
while 95% of the damaged fuel was removed and transported offsite.
· Improved quality of the health physics program which resulted in the
reduction of three full time NRC health physics inspectors to one part time
inspector.

1979 to 1987: Oyster Creek NGS, Forked River NJ
Radiological Controls Director (Radiation Protection Manager).
Managed 65-150 Health Physics personnel. Provided the leadership to
reorganize and modernize the department. Recruited HP personnel
nationally. Successfully administered annual budgets of $6-8 million with
less than 2% deviation. Attained zero liquid releases for 2 years.
· Health Physics was credited with saving 50 million dollars during a five
year period from personnel processing efficiencies and reduced radiation
exposure. Implemented a Radiation Protection Plan.
· Health Physics received the NRC 's highest rating in Radiation
Protection in 1984, 1985 & 1986.
· The health physics technician training and qualification program was
awarded 12 credits from Rutgers Univ. which motivate several students to
complete a degree.
1974 to 1979 - General Electric, Vallecitos, CA
Supervisor Radiological & Environmental Services.
Supervised 6-20 technicians at numerous domestic and overseas reactors.
Appraised health physics programs.
· Identified 300+ deficiencies in the Oyster Creek Health Physics program;
Developed and implemented an action plan to resolve an NRC 90 day show
cause order which prevented bankruptcy of General Public Utilities.
1970 to 1974 Helgeson Scientific Company, Pleasanton , CA
Mobile whole body counter operator.
1965 to 1970 General Electric, San Jose , CA
Health Physics technician .
EDUCATION
University of California Berkeley, BS, Biological Science
TRAINING
Introduction to Medical Physics; GE 3 month Radiological Engineering
Course; Senn Delanney-Teamwork & leadership; PersPersCon- Manager
Development; KT- Problem Solving; EG&G- MORT-2; Leadership Effectiveness
Training; etc. Numerous PC application classes.
