Re: Effective Dose Equivalent



The previous message on Effective Dose Equivalent (EDE) values for various
medical irradiations gives the  EDE in units of mrad.   Should EDE not be
given in units of rem or Sv, not units of absorbed dose?   I assume that
the ultimate question is that of risk.

This is an interesting topic.  I am not a medical physicist but I am often
asked by colleagues and  acquaintances about the "risks" of certain medical
procedures involving ionizing radiation.  Their doctors seem unable to
answer their questions.
