children and Chernobyl

Hello,

The late news last night (NBC local afffiliate) said that there were
a dozen children here in New Mexico for medical treatment of some 
illness due to radiation exposure from Chernobyl.  They didn't say
how old the children were, what the illness was, or why the treatment
needed to be in Albuquerque.  (They did say that the children were 
enjoying hiking, camping, and swimming here in New Mexico.  Have any 
of the folks in Albuquerque (RW or someone else) seen or heard any 
other information on this?
