Position Description:

Supervises and leads projects and activities of the Medical and 
Academic Licensing Project.  Work involves planning, developing, 
and/or supervising project teams for licensing activities for medical 
and academic uses with radioactive material; and coordinating special 
environmental projects in the areas of health physics (radiological 
health).  Performs highly advanced health physics (radiological 
health) work to evaluate proposed equipment, facilities, procedures 
and personnel for adequacy to minimize danger to public health and 
safety or the environment.  Plans, assigns, and/or supervises the 
work of others in carrying out assigned projects. Works under 
direction with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and 
independent judgement.  Serves as project leader and/or project 
team member in other Bureau activities as needed.

30% Serves as Project Leader for the Medical and Academic Licensing 
Project.
30% Performs and coordinates independent scientific and technical 
review of highly advanced, technical requests for uses of radioactive 
material.
20% Directly supervises three (3) persons (two (2) Environmental 
Specialist Vs and one (1) Word Processing Operator II).
10% Provides technical information to applicants, licensees, general 
public and staff.
10% Performs as project leader or project team member on other 
Radiation Control project teams.  Performs other duties as assigned 
to meet goals and objectives of the Licensing Branch, the Division
of Licensing, Registration, and Standards and the Bureau of Radiation 
Control.
