Mt. St Helens doses

Radsafers,

A couple a weeks ago a reference was made to science in 1981

about radiation doses obtained from the Mt. St. Helens explosion(s).

All this radon 222 and potassium 40 was mentioned for instance.

Now, what I didn't get was: Were those doses giving average

lifetime doses for every person on earth?

And was it only referring to the first explosion?

What about more local doses? Say to people living in places

like Yakima, Ellensburg, Wenatchee or up toward Grant County?

I understand that the doses may be of "academic" character

but it would still be interesting to get a perspective on

both on individual doses (incl. to the lung) and global dose

committment.

Thanks on beforehand,

Bjorn
