Re: Nuclear Carrier Arrives In SD -Reply

I don't think that Coronado forgot about any nearby docked Navy ships. A large
percentage of the town's resident population are retired admirals. They would
be well aware of the Long Beach and several nuclear powered carriers which have
docked at North Island Naval Station. North Island occupies about half the
peninsula and Coronado the other half. Coronado appears to be another
environmentalist's target. I would think that they should be more concerned
with some of the environmental threats 12 mile away in Tijuana.

I guess Coronado forgot about the USS Long Beach in the 70's.

Anyone have a spare monitoring system they are interested in
selling to the city of Coronado!!!!!!

Nuclear Carrier Arrives In SD - (SAN DIEGO) -- It's an historic day
in San Diego as the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier
John -C- Stennis arrives in the harbor for the first time. With it, the
``Stennis'' is bringing about three-thousand sailors and an
annual payroll of about 126-Million dollars. Environmentalists say
the ship also is bringing the added danger of nuclear
exposure to area residents. The 97-thousand ton ship is powered
by twin- nuclear reactors. The city of Coronado is looking
into cost- effective systems to monitor radiation.
