Call for Papers Dealing with Radiation Protection and Litigation

The editors of Health Physics, the Radiation Protection Journal, plan to
publish a special issue on litigation and radiation protection. Special
editors for this issue will be Bruce Busby, Lawrence Winans, David Weidis

and Don Jose.

Anyone with involvement in litigation of radiation exposures or has
research interests in the historical, environmental, industrial or social

impact of radiation related litigation is invited to submit an abstract
for consideration. Other related areas for possible submission would
include legal issues of patents, risk management and liability insurance,

document requirements, expert witnesses and privacy issues. In addition,

we would like to have papers that would serve the Health Physics
community
with guidance on how to prepare yourself if you ever were involved in
testifying, how and what to say, how to say it, etc. I also feel that
contributions
on how to manage your program to protect your employer from liability
would
be of interest. Recordkeeping, dosimetry, extent of investigations,
calculations,
documentation, oversight, teaching, etc. are good topics to be
considered.

Deadline for the abstracts will be 1 October 1998.

After review of abstracts for relevance, authors will be invited to
submit completed manuscripts for consideration in the special issue.
Authors will be notified of the acceptance of their abstracts by 1
November and final manuscripts will be due 15 January 1999. All
manuscripts will be peer reviewed.

Abstracts should be limited to 500 words. Both abstracts and manuscripts
should be submitted according to the instructions to contributors that
appear in the January and July issues of Health Physics or found at the
Journal's Web site
(www.wwilkins.com/health_physics/0017-9078aut-sub.html).

Questions can be sent to Bruce Busby , E-mail: babusby@aol.com, Phone:
360-236-3222, fax: 360-236-2255.

All abstracts should be mailed to:
