reclassification

Robert Augdahl mentioned reclassification of RPTs to a generic title. This
is also being proposed in the federal arena by OPM for Health Physicists.
Basically they are proposing to combine all physical scientists under one
generic title. Among the many problems with this is the generic
descriptions for the various grade levels do not address the non-science
issues (regulations and other such mundane stuff) that HPs must deal with.
Hopefully HPS and NRC commented on the impact of this proposal. This was
some time ago (I seem to recall a 9/97 deadline). I suspect this will be a
growing trend.
