Nuclear Dump Foes Present Petitions other news

Nuclear Dump Foes Present Petitions - (AUSTIN) -- Opponents of
a nuclear waste dump in Texas have gathered 25-thousand petition
signatures and presented them to the Texas Natural Resource
Conservation Commission. Environmental groups are against the
site near Sierra Blanca... claiming it's unsafe and could endanger
future generations. The U-S House and Senate, along with
President Clinton, have signed off on the low-lever waste site. The
commission is expected to make a decision on the issue at its
October 22nd meeting. If approved... it would then be up to the
legislature to provide funding for the construction.
