Testing for Radon in Homes

Let me try this one (and only one) more time:

Tom Mohaupt's last sentence in a recent (very thoughtful) RADSAFE message
was "of course, I agree that the EPA should encourage homeowners to test
their abodes for radon; however, their tactics are scarier than radon
itself."

I certainly agree with Tom that the EPA's tactics are scarier than radon.
However I would argue that, instead of buying radon test devices, people
should use the money to buy (and eat) a salad or two. According to the
data I've seen, any risk that may be associated with indoor radon could be
more than mitigated by a modest improvement in diet.

Bill Field, would you agree? Has the work you've done in Iowa given you an
idea of the magnitude of potential risk (in Iowa)?

ps, how IS the Iowa study coming? ron
