Re: Career Ops

     Eric,

Positions are, of course, occasionally announced on RADSAFE. You
can watch the HP Newsletter and the AAPM placement bulletin (if
you have any interest in working in a clinical program). The
following web sites are also very good places to look:

www.usajobs.opm.gov/a.htm This is the Federal Government's
Office of Personnel Management web site. The job code for an HP
is 1306, so try searching by that series number.

www.radix.net/~gregsackett/jobs.htm Mr. Sackett has put together
a very extensive list of sites that MAY (key word) be advertising
     HP positions.

     www.sph.umich.edu/group/eih/UMSCHPS/listings.htm This is the
University of Michigan's HP job list; old jobs are automatically
removed, so you don't have to worry about outdated listings.

www.doe.gov/people/peopnl.htm This site is the easiest way to get
to all the National Lab sites, each of which are worth looking at.
On some of the lab's sites, you have to dig a little to find the
     positions available list.

There are also the standard job list sites, but I've never seen
much at the general employment web pages. By the time you've plowed
through the sites above, you should be getting pretty good at
sniffing out possible job listing sites. If you end up moving
to a new area, a good site to visit is www.homefair.com/home/,
which has a salary calculator (which tells you what you'd need
to make for comparable standards of living in different areas), a
moving cost calculator, and other helpful info.

     Hope this helps!
