From: Alan Pasternak, Technical Director, California Radioactive Materials
Management Forum
To: RADSAFE
Cal Rad Forum's Annual Fall Conference will take place on Thursday and Friday,
November 5-6 at the Clarion Hotel at the San Francisco Airport, Millbrae,
California.
Details about the conference program and arrangements are posted on the Cal
Rad web site at <http://www.calradforum.org>.
The conference program features a special panel discussion, "Ward Valley and
Implementation of the Low-Level Waste Policy Act" which will be moderated by
the League of Women Voters. For many years, the League has facilitated public
understanding of and participation in the California licensing process for a
low-level radioactive waste disposal facility. Invitations to participate in
the panel discussion have been extended to representatives of the State of
California, the State's licensee and facility developer/operator,
organizations that use radioactive materials, political leaders, journalists,
and scientists.
The conference program will also include presentations by experts on the
beneficial uses of radioisotopes in medical treatment and research, drug
discovery, and atmospheric sciences. Experts will also present talks on the
effects of low levels of ionizing radiation, the management of radioactive
wastes in Russia, and the recent controversy over the shipment of spent fuel
through Concord, California.
For information on conference registration, please call Betsy Hite, Cal Rad's
Administrative Director at 916/687-8701.
For information about the conference program, please call Dr. Alan Pasternak
