"Safe" may be different than "allowable"

We have had no problem when cleaning small areas to 
5 pCi/g Ra-226.  ...from our regulators, that is.

NUREG 1500 says 0.787 pCi/g can generate 15 mrem/y
in a residential scenario

This can be scaled, I suppose, to give you mrem/concentration info
on your local regs.... 15 to 500 mrem/yr?
