TMI, PECO & CPL in the news



Utility Company Under Fire - (STATEWIDE) -- Environmental 
protesters are taking aim at Carolina Power and Light's Harris
Nuclear Plant. The group is upset about the utility's plans to 
expand nuclear waste storage at the Wake County plant. They say
adding the storage is dangerous and it's being done without public 
attention. C-P-and-L says the plan has been in the works for years 
and there is nothing secret about the licensing process. The 
company says the additional fuel handling units have been at the
plant since it went on line in 1987.

TMI Deal Near For PECO - (PHILADELPHIA) -- PECO Energy is 
close to purchasing the Three Mile Island Nuclear Power Plant. The 
deal is in cooperation with partner British Energy. The 100-Million 
dollar transaction would be subject to regulatory approvals and 
would be the first sale of a nuclear power plant in the U.S.
