Ignorance is pervasive. "Any rad is bad." 

Recent radsafe messages have shown the mockery of literacy that engender the
costly pursuit of non-hazards, from radon down to fallout and Hanford I-131
(ignoring the lack of effect from 10s millions of people with medical
exposures). 

They are ignorant and gullible enough to believe that LLW can be a hazard
(while living in thousands of times more rad, carelessly disposed of by
nature, and people living downwind in the millions of times greater release
from Mt. St. Helens, which is of course of no consequence. Innumeracy is pandemic.
