Subject: US Navy Rad Waste Contact Person
RADSAFERs,
One of our NASA facilities at Wallops Island, Virginia handles
environmental wastes from a Navy tenant through an inter-agency agreement.
However, this agreement does not cover radioactive wastes.
The Navy AEGIS facility is trying to dispose of an old radar tube which
contains a small quantity of material. Evidently they do not have the
proper contact person from the Navy to provide for disposal. The local
landfill will not accept this type of material.
Is there someone in RADSAFE-land that has a US Navy contact for me that I
can call on this matter? Any help would be appreciated.
Please reply to my personal email (Not RADSAFE). Thanks.
