Dennis,

Anyone interested in shipping radioactive materials in their personal automobile should carefully examine their automobile insurance policy before they proceed.  An associate told me that most car insurance policies will not cover accidents where the driver was transporting hazardous materials in their personal vehicle.

I have not verified this statement myself but you may want to be aware of this possibility.
