RE: Cyclotron shielding

Dr HB Knowles has already posted some information. A further excellent
reference is: Radiological Safety Aspects of the Operation of Proton
Accelerators, IAEA Technical Reports Series, n0. 283, ISBN 92-0-125188-2. It
was written by Thomas (now retired but busy in California) and Stevenson
(CERN).

Further places and people to contact are the Vivitron people at Strasburg,
Orsay, CERN, and Dr TA Broome at RAL,UK.

I have worked on the shielding on many accelerators including 20, 40 and 60
MeV proton machines. What information do you need? Please contact me again
if I can help further.

Radiation protection at cyclotron

We are planning to build a cyclotron in Nantes. Who could advise on the
concrete shielding nececessary for a proton beam of 70 MeV and an intensity
of 2 mA ?
Any reference would be welcome.
Tahnks in advance for cooperation.
