Re: Independent assessment of rad environmental monitoring

M. Hatch, S. Wallenstein, J. Beyea, and M. Susser of Colombia University
presented a paper entitled "Childhood Cancer near Three Mile Island Nuclear
Plant Emissions and Background Radiation" at the June 1990 meeting of the
American Society of Epidemiologists. This paper was reported to have found
that childhood cancers are not related to TMI-2 emissions even though J.
Beyea is on record as an opponent of nuclear power and the TMI Public
Health Fund, which funded the study, is an independent body funded by a
settlement of a lawsuit against GPU. This study involved the use of
off-site dosimitry.
