RADIATION MEASUREMENT LAB SUPERVISOR



	SR SCIENTIST

Bechtel Nevada, a prime contractor to the U.S. Department of Energy,
has an immediate opening for a radiation measurement laboratory
supervisor at the Nevada Test Site, sixty miles from Las Vegas, Nevada. 

The candidate will supervise technical staff performing radiation
measurements of in-vitro bioassay, environmental monitoring, and other
industrial and environmental radiological samples; establish operating
parameters for radiation measurement equipment; and write, update, and
maintain procedures for identifying and quantifying alpha, beta, and
gamma emitting radioisotopes in samples.  Interface with supervisors
from Chemistry, Information Systems, and Client Representatives to
ensure proper scheduling of work.

The successful candidate must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's
degree in health physics, radiation protection, or related scientific
discipline, or combination of education and experience.  Eight to fifteen
years experience with the calibration and operation of alpha
spectroscopy, gamma spectroscopy, liquid scintillation, and
gas-proportional counting systems.  Working knowledge of basic
laboratory procedures and instrumentation.  Strong computational skills
and computer applications proficiency are needed.
