RE: personal alpha cam

The revision to 10CFR835.403b in my mind significantly changes the "Real
time air monitoring" issue. One might perform continuous low volume air
sampling with 15 minute monitoring intervals (sound familiar) and/or
utilization of existing Alpha CAMs to monitor the tent directly. When
coupled with a Bubble Suit/PAPR/Lapel combo should be more than adequate
"to detect and provide warning of airborne activity concentrations that
warrant immediate action to terminate inhalation of airborne radioactive
material". FOOD FOR THOUGHT

There is a requirement for a personal breathing zone air monitor within
a
"bubble suit" in DOE's draft guidance document for internal dosimetry
(SAFT-0057) in those situations where a "bubble suit" is required for
personal protection.
