Idiot-proof survey meters

Could anyone recommend a survey meter that could be used by minimally
trained, scientifically illiterate persons?

The unit would have to be quite rugged and be easy to operate (one button).
It must clearly indicate the units it is reading out in, and preferably be
self-ranging. Its range should be from tens of micro-R per hour to a couple
hundred milli-R per hour. An alarm set-point feature would be nice. A
programmable audio function that would say something like "Danger! Back
Away!" or "Call the State!" would be really nice.

I'm only being somewhat facetious. The intended application for these units
would be at waste transfer facilities.

I seem to be describing, with the exception of the audio feature, the 450P
or something similar. Any thoughts will be appreciated.
