Nuclear Job Ratings in the The Jobs Rated Almanac

Fellow Radsafers -

The publication known as the Jobs Rated Almanac today published
its latest rankings of jobs in terms of overall desirability. Two
hundred and fifty professions were evaluated and ranked in descending
order of overall desirability. For your information (and possibly amusement),
the following are the rankings of the jobs in our field on the list:

                # 36 Nuclear engineer

                # 42 Physicist (health/radiation physicist?)

               # 223 Nuclear plant decontamination technician

The top-ranked profession in the survey is Web site manager (# 1)
and the lowest-ranked one is Roustabout/Oil field laborer (# 250).

What does this all mean? Hard to say. Maybe nothing.

But any sting associated with the apparently "lowly" rating of
Nuclear plant decontamination technician would seem to be mitigated
by the ranking for another, higher-profile profession: President of the
United States. That job comes in even lower, at number # 229 on the list.

Steve
