Nuclear Medicine

Hi all,

We are gathering information about procedures applied in the monitoring of internal contamination of workers by radionuclides in Nuclear Medicine Services. Does your country have any established radiation protection protocol related to this type of exposure ? The number of people occupationally exposed in Brazil is quite significant. Here there are about 250 services where individual monitoring is still restricted to the use of external monitoring (film+TLD).  Area monitoring for surface contamination is also a routine practice, but no systematic in vivo or in vitro individual monitoring is carried out. Do you think internal monitoring procedures should be applied in this field ? and, if so, which procedures would you recommend ?
