Job Posting: Senior Health Physicist

Anticipated Start Date:  June 1, 1999

International Isotopes Inc (I3) is seeking a qualified applicant for a
Senior Health Physicist position.

I3 is initiating operations to be a supplier of finished
radiopharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical grade radiochemicals,
radioisotopes, brachytherapy medical devices and instruments used for
diagnostics and therapeutic treatment of cancer and other diseases. The
Company is also developing products for radiation therapy and medical
imaging.   Production operations will be initially supported by a CP-42
(MeV) Cyclotron and a 70 MeV LINAC.

Location: Denton, Texas (about 30 miles North of Dallas-Fort Worth)

Duties:

Implement, manage and perform radiation safety functions in a
radiopharmaceutical manufacturing and accelerator production facility to
ensure all operations are in conformance with federal, state, local and
company regulations and policies.  Review and consult on implementation
of manufacturing and production procedures and protocols regarding
radiological and non-radiological safety issues.  Direct radiological
response activities. Support regulatory submissions.  Perform radiation
calculations, assist in facility design and improvements, and provide
training and testing. 

Required - B.S. degree in Health Physics or related field and at least 7
years of  Health Physics experience.  Must have extensive applied
experience implementing and managing health physics functions related to
handling and/or processing loose radioactive material.  Must be able to
interpret and apply regulatory requirements for handling sources of
radiation, including radioactive material, accelerators; x-ray machines
and lasers.   Must be familiar with basic computer applications,
environmental/personnel monitoring, instrumentation and facilities
review.  Must have good writing and speaking skills so as  to present
technical and non-technical information to a wide range of audiences. 

Preferred - ABHP Certification; M.S. degree in Health Physics or related
field;  substantial Health Physics experience in radiochemical and/or
radiopharmaceutical (cGMP) manufacturing; radioisotope production;
proton accelerator operations; ventilation and filtration (particularly
radioiodine); shielding design and/or emergency response.   Chemical
Safety and/or Industrial Hygiene expertise is a strong plus.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

Usual - work is conducted indoors/outdoors, in laboratories, offices and
mechanical rooms during all seasons of the month and requires standing,
walking, climbing, carrying instruments weighing up to 40 lbs. and
wearing various personnel protective equipment.

Periodic - potentially hazardous work environment requiring personnel
protective clothing and respirator (including SCBA and chemical
protective suit).

manufacturing processes from health physics and safety 
		perspectives
Procedures:	Review for Radiological and non-radiological safety.
Implement and Revise radiation safety program procedures
Facilities:    Evaluation of gloveboxes/hotcells and ventilation systems
(including proper filtration for radionuclides)
Licensing:	Support licensing process for production accelerators
(Cyclotron and  LINAC) and manufacturing facilities
HP:             Support day-to-day health physics operations; including
radiation surveys (including neutron) and effluent 
			monitoring and  analysis
Other:		Support chemical and OSHA safety programs
