John Horan

Many of you knew and were friends of John Horan. He passed away last Friday of
brain cancer at the age of 76.

He was a fixture in the health physics community at the INEEL, going back to its
days as the National Reactor Testing Station. John was a key player in the
recovery activities at SL-1. He was sent to Viet Nam during the closing days of
the war to recover reactor fuel owned by the US government. He was a
past-president of the Health Physics Society. He remained active until his
illness during the last few months. During the past several years, he had been
an active member of the Citizens Advisory Committee reviewing the Health Effects
Study being conducted for the INEEL.
