Re: Radiation has widespread effects on cell

Maybe my radiation biophysics training is 30 years old and perhaps I'm missing
something, but these guys seem to be stretching as to the significance of their
work, suggesting that it will require a major revision of the risk estimates for
radon. Ignoring the LNT controversy (please) and the enlightening work of Dr.
Cohen, in the real world, risk estimates are based on real exposures in real
people, and real radon irradiates whatever it has always irradiated, be that
cytoplasm or nucleus. Risk estimates are not based on the analysis of
theoretical models, but have been estimated without regard to the mechanism(s)
that may cause the undesirable endpoint.. This data seems to reflect on the
mechanism(s) which create the risk, rather than on the risk estimates
themselves.
