Just received the following data (US only)which might be of interest.


Enrollments in undergraduate HP programs in 1998 
161 (down 12% from 183 in 1997)

Undergraduate HP degrees received in 1998 
51 (down from 62 in 1997)


Enrollments in master's HP programs in 1998
347 (down 16% from 413 in 1997)

Masters HP degrees received in 1998
127 (down 29% from 180 in 1997)


Enrollments in PhD HP programs in 1998
190 (down 9% from 208 in 1997)

PhD HP degrees received in 1998
37 (up 9% from 34 in 1997)


HP programs were offered by 49 programs at 47 institutions but 3 programs
have been suspended and are not accepting new students.
