Radiation Safety Positions in Washington



The Washington Hospital Center, a premier healthcare facility in the DC   
metropolitan area, is seeking a Radiation Safety Specialist to join its

The individual will be responsible for ensuring that all radiation safety   
activities are performed in accordance with approved procedures and   
regulatory requirements in the facility's byproduct and ionizing   
radiation program.
Qualifications for this position include a Master's degree in health   
physics or a closely related discipline, knowledge of radiation safety   
procedures and regulations, a minimum of three years hospital related   
experience, and experience working closely under NRC guidelines.  In   
addition, the individual must be certified by the American Board of   
Health Physics and/or the American Board of Radiology in medical health   
physics.

The Radiation Safety Department of the Washington Hospital Center is   
currently offering an exciting full-time opportunity for a Health Physics   
Technician.  We are seeking a highly motivated, self-starter to fill this   
full-time night shift ( 11pm to 7 am) position.
This individual will be reponsible for monitoring medical waste and   
identifying radioactivity in medical waste;  Heavy observation and   
monitoring of brachytherapy procedures.  The individual must be highly   
organized and be able to prioritize duties.  The ability to work   
independently is a must.
To qualify for this position, an Associate's degree in radiological   
science or environmental safety, or 1-3 years of formal training is   
required.  Hospital experience is preferred.
