That's because the potential and immediate risks of allergic reaction to
iodinated dyes used as contrast enhancers in CT imaging, far surpass the
somewhat questionable and long term risk from the radiation exposure.
Patients have died from dye, not yet from a CT scan, as far as I know. (No
pun intended)
btw, we also have handouts for our patients, but they don't always bother to
look at and read them.
