Re: MDA and RDA

The MDA is a specific example of an RDA.

The MDA was develed by/at HASL (?) and adopted by NRC as a method of
standardizing RDAs and thereby implementing uniform sensitivity for
environmental measurements. Especially convenient when samples are
split between licencee, state, NRC, etc.

The recall the MDA is an RDA with 5% false positive and 5% false
negative when the decision level is set at the 95% percentile of the
background distribution.
