Re: Radiation Control Technician

If you are serious about becoming an RCT there are two ways to go. 1) go
full time with a power reactor utility, a research lab, or other company
licensed to have the material. This however is not always possible. 2) Go
with a company that hires people for short to long term assignments. These
companies start you out at what is known as a junior technician. Junior
technicians generally make $10 or less an hour and are required to go
wherever the job site which may be hundreds of miles from where you live.
Sometimes the companies will give per diem (living expense) and sometimes
they will not. This depends on the demand at the time. The demand at power
plants is higher during the fall, winter and spring. If you want additional
information about working as a junior to get the required experience
(generally three or more years) please back to me at damm01@uti.com
