Re: Release of Site Vehicles
Dave, although it is done, I think you understand the real problem. One really can not release a vehicle from a contaminated area you just can not get into all the tight spaces to do the survey. At Defense Nuclear sites we have not addressed this problem from the Board's perspective because it is not safety but public fear and superstition and legal aspects which drive this problem. If I were Radcon Manager at a DOE site I would prohibit any vehicles from entering a contaminated (loose surface) site. This means that to get a vehicle in you have to clean up the site. Tough decision but it is better than the options 1) scrap the vehicle or 2) potentially ending up on the news.
Just my two cents and not that of the Board.

This question has several parts:
1. How does your site release (hopefully clean) vehicles from radiological areas if they have to go into them?
2. How does or does your site release vehicles (from non rad areas or previously released from rad area) to go off site for maintenance, just driving around etc?
