Eurythmics fund-raiser for Greenpeace $$$$$$$$$

posted at http://www.peacetour.net/press.html

Eurythmics, one of the most successful British bands of the last 20 years,
are to undertake an ambitious live tour in support of Greenpeace and Amnesty
International. The World Tour will take the band across America, Australia
and throughout Europe. It will be the first time that Eurythmics have
undertaken a series of live dates on this scale in over 10 years. The tour
will start on 18th September 1999 in Cologne in Germany and will end almost
3 months later in December in the UK, with dates in Birmingham, Manchester,
Glasgow, Dublin and finally, London at Wembley Arena and Docklands Arena.
See dates on the tour page. The Tour has been organised to support and
promote the coming together of two of the world's most globally influential
organisations; Greenpeace and Amnesty International. They have joined forces
for the first time ever and have set an unprecedented objective to recruit
one million pledges to the Peacetour. All the proceeds from the tour and
associated activities will be donated to the two organisations. Dave Stewart
and Annie Lennox are currently rehearsing in London with a live band in
preparation for the dates. They are working on a means of integrating
messages from Greenpeace and Amnesty International into the visual and audio
content of the shows. The band will launch the tour in spectacular fashion
by performing live for TV crews and journalists from around the world on
board the historic Greenpeace ship 'Rainbow Warrior' in London on Monday 5th
July 1999.

Greenpeace would like to thank Annie, Dave and everyone who will go on to
make a pledge to the Peacetour.
